What is hypospadias?

The opening of the urethra being on the underside of the penis instead of the tip is a birth defect called hypospadias. The appearance of the penis is different and those with it may have problems urinating because it may cause abnormal spraying. Women 35 and over are more likely to have a boy with hypospadias, exposure to certain substances while pregnant is another reason for the defect, genetics, or even family history can cause it too. 

Treatment 

A single correction surgery, or sometimes more than one, is needed to fix the defect. Afterward, the penis looks completely normal and the boy can have normal urination and reproduction. After the surgery, there will be a couple of visits to the surgeon and regular follow-ups with the child’s pediatric urologist is recommended to check how the healing of it and any possible complications
