What is Ankylosing Spondylitis?
Ankylosing Spondylitis is a rare form of arthritis. It is inflammatory and can over time have the small bones in the spine fuse. It causes pain and stiffness in the spine and is also a lifelong disease usually starting on the lower back. It can reach up to the neck or damage joints in another part of the body. A severe case of this would result in a permanently hunched back.
Treatment
This is an incurable disease, but certain medication may ease the pain and swelling and/or delay more spinal problems. A healthy diet along with exercise would go a long way in allowing better movement and also help stop the condition from worsening. The type of medications the patient will receive will depend on how bad the condition of the patient is hence why a doctor should be seen as quickly as possible.
