What is Vaccination?
Vaccination is one of the most effective ways of preventing diseases. The vaccine helps our immune system to recognize and fight the pathogens like bacteria and viruses and then protect us from infections and diseases they cause. How does vaccination work?
Vaccination is an important part of primary prevention. They teach our immune system to recognize the pathogens and eliminate them. They prepare our body for exposure. When vaccines are administered, the body is exposed to the safe version of disease in the form of
- Dead or inactivated pathogen
- Toxoid containing a toxin produced by a pathogen in a mild form
- Weakened pathogen
When our body responds to the vaccine, our adaptive immunity is built which protects us from further exposure.
