What is Arthritis?
Arthritis is the inflammation of joints but the term itself is used to describe about 200 conditions that affect the joins, other connective tissue, and tissues that surround the joins. Commonly those with arthritis have joint pain and stiffness and this worsens with age. The most prevalent types are Osteoarthritis where the hands shake and rheumatoid arthritis where the immune system attacks the joints. The cause of arthritis is usually the growth in age but other factors include obesity, family history, whether you’re male or female, and previous joint injury.
Treatment
There are medical treatments such as painkillers, for some types of arthritis therapy is helpful and there is also surgery. Surgical procedures include joint repair, sometimes joint surfaces can be smoothed or realigned to improve function, joint replacement, where the damaged joint is removed and replaced with an artificial joint, and joint fusion, the ends of the two bones in the joint are removed and then locked together until they heal into one unit. Treatments vary from the type of arthritis and other factors.
