What is an Arm Lift?
An arm lift is when a cosmetic surgical procedure is performed to make the appearance of the under portion of the upper arms look more appealing. This is done by removing excess skin and fat between the armpit and elbow. Risks that may occur after the surgery include permanent scarring, which are usually in areas that aren’t easily visible, stitches that may work into the surface of the skin requiring more surgery to treat, temporary numbness, and imperfect symmetry. Arm lifts are not advised for the significantly overweight, those who have a constant change in their weight, smokers, and those that have a condition which interferes with their scar healing.
Treatment
After the surgery, lifting above the shoulder level must be avoided for a few weeks, physical and athletic activities that may stretch the incisions must also be avoided, take antibiotics to avoid infection and take pain medications if needed.
